Meet Lucy Jane Turpin
Lucy Jane Turpin was born in Johannesburg in 1983. She completed her Honours Degree in Fine Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and her Master’s Degree with Cum Laude at the University of Stellenbosch in March 2015. Her practical focus is drawing, installation and painting.
Recently she has spent time on residencies in Iceland and Morocco, both making an indefinite impact on her work in terms of how she sees form, nature, colour, sentiment and environment.
“The nature of my practice is to experience. It is responsive to the immediate environment I find myself in. Experience in the sense of life-world. What my memory encapsulates. A conversation I may have. Something I may see. The mind and body are not separate through making and what results is an action of an all-encompassing relationship.”
